Vintage Games at LSC

This year the third National Vintage Games were held in Bath and for the first time Boules featured as one of the sports. The National Vintage Games are open to players over 50 in age with a wide range of sports available e.g. rugby, swimming, football, netball etc. For further details on these sports and the event in general visit the website www.nationalvintagegames.com

The Boules tournament was held at Larkhall Sports Club, the home of the City of Bath Petanque Club, with 12 teams competing. The format comprised of 3 groups each of 4 teams playing each other in the morning. Followed by semi-finals straight after lunch made up from the 3 group winners (Codfathers, Banjacs, Veneraboules – all CoBPC) and the best runner up (The Scabs). The final was then contested by Codfathers and Banjacs with Codfathers coming out on top.

All the proceeds raised, £267, going to the Alzheimer’s Society.

Our thanks go to David Knight for organising the competition, Anne Knight for the selection of scrummy cakes, Larkhall Sports Club for use of their clubhouse, and to Liz Bug for capturing the action with some brilliant pictures. A selection of her pictures can be viewed here.
