The publication on Monday 11th May of the latest UK Government advice on tackling the COVID-19 epidemic eases the restrictions for some sporting activities, including Pétanque. Club members should have received an email from the Petanque England Board providing new guidance for ‘Restricted Play’, this is replicated here.
However, the UK Government’s planning assumption is that hospitality services such as pubs, clubs and leisure facilities will remain closed until at least 4th July. As a consequence, the Larkhall Sports Club (LSC) remains closed for the foreseeable future.
After discussion with LSC on the practicalities of access to and usage of Club facilities and services, we have taken the decision that the City of Bath Petanque Club will remain closed until further notice. Access to ALL facilities at LSC is prohibited and the use of the terrains for informal play is NOT permitted. The Club’s booking for Queen Square also remains suspended until further notice.
In the meanwhile, for those members who would like to recommence play, there are of course pistes in Queen Square, Alexandra Park, and Alice Park which may be used. This is of course subject to BANES rules/restrictions on usage of public places, and in accordance with PE guidelines.
We will continue to monitor the situation and update you as soon as we have a clearer picture on when the Club can re-open.
Although Club activities are suspended, please use the Contact Us menu if you require any information on the Club and our facilities.
